Creative Coding
During the second week, the students explored the world of creative coding using P5.js and Python! On the first day, they experimented with 3D art by building shapes and exploring how to manipulate space in a program. The following day, they discovered how lighting can transform digital artwork, giving their projects new depth and dimension. A big thank you to Shruti for guiding everyone through these lessons!
Cybersecurity
The next part of the week focused on cybersecurity. Students learned how to recognize phishing attempts, the importance of digital security, and how to design strong passwords to keep their information safe. These sessions also included a fun and interactive team-building activity, led by Brooke-Lynn, the cybersecurity teacher, that helped the girls practice problem-solving while strengthening teamwork. Time was also set aside for progress on their final projects in preparation for the last day of camp.
Final Showcase
On the final day, we kicked things off with a quick presentation where we introduced Talon and our team working on the camp. After that, we held our final showcase, where parents, students, and teachers got to explore all the amazing projects students had created, ranging from websites to Scratch games!
Once the showcase wrapped up, we headed to the next room for a celebration. Families enjoyed food, took photos together, and shared in the fun atmosphere to celebrate the hard work these girls have done. We’ve loved hosting this camp for the second year in a row, and we can’t wait to bring it back again next year!
