Minnesota School Board Convention!

Written By: Laviki P

With over 200 FRC teams in Minnesota alone, school funding and support are the backbone of a good robotics team, Talon being no exception. Which is why we were so fortunate to be invited by Team 3102 Tech No Tigers to speak on behalf of FIRST programs all across the state about how rewarding it is for students to learn about STEM and business through robotics.

Look at all the teams!

The event was held at the Minneapolis Convention Center with exhibitions from architecture companies, chefs, engineers, and, of course, robotics. There was a field setup from last year’s game, Reefscape, where 5 teams could demo their robots while talking to people about FIRST. While Lefty could not make it to the event, we sent three students who could best represent our team to speak with the school boards and fellow exhibitors.

Our teammates were able to connect with a wide variety of vendors who supported MN schools in a wide variety of ways. Among these vendors was the DLR Group, which we had toured with in the past! We got to see tons of different businesses, including Taher, who provided snacks and samples throughout the event.

Thank you!

From allowing students to be at school long past the final bell to supporting FIRST programs financially, we were so grateful to have the opportunity to speak with our board representatives on how they make robotics a huge stepping stone for student futures.
