Pancakes! (And the Game Reveal) | Kickoff

Preparing for Kickoff

Kickoff is a massive event, not just for our team but for all of FIRST Robotics Competition. There was a lot of preparation that had to go into this in order to both have fun and plan everything we needed. In the weeks leading up to it, we had team, leads, and deputy meetings to prepare our team for the most productive, engaging event we could have!

Part of this was coordnating with our lovely guests! Caribou coffee provided us with coffee and hot chocolate for the event. If there’s one thing robotics kids love, it’s caffiene and chocolate. In addition to Caribou, we had a reporter from EPLN (Eden Prairie Local News) there to cover the event!

Uncovering REBUILT

The game this year is REBUILT! You can watch the game video here:

Our team also put together a website page dedicated to breaking down the core features of the game. You can find it here!

Time to read!

Time to Talk!

After the game video had been watched and rules had been read, it was time to break into discussion groups. Each member of our build leadership team led a group. In these groups we first talked about robot strategy, what we wanted the robot to be able to do. From there, we made a “Do, Don’t, Maybe” list.

Each small group made their own unqiue list and came ready to share it with the larger group. After we had everyone’s ideas down we talked through what made the most sense for us to do as a team. We then repeated this process for mechanisms, and had done one earlier while we were reading the rules to make note of the important ones.

It’s Just the Start!

Kickoff is just the start of our season. Be sure to follow along to learn all about how we build our bot! Don’t worry, we’ll still be keeping up with our community events as well! Thank you to everyone who has supported our team, and the many supporters we have to this day.
