2025 IEEE Picnic: Thanking our Sponsors

IEEE Picnic – Connor P

We were invited to the IEEE picnic hosted by Emerson. IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) is a community of engineers dedicated to advancing technology to help humanity, with about 486,000 members worldwide. They are a sponsor for our team and allow us to do things we couldn’t without them.

Networking with IEEE

We had the opportunity to meet and talk to many other potential and active sponsors, and demo our robot for them. Finding mentors and industry connections is a great opportunity provided by events like these. These sponsors, mentors, or any other form of support are essential for our team! We also had a presentation that discussed our team structure, and the electronics behind our robot.

Fellow team 2169 King Tec was also attending this event! We got to see how they run their team! As well as some of their thought processes when they’re designing a robot. We met some amazing people, had a lot of fun, and got to stir up interest in our team. Overall, it was an awesome event!

A Rainy Wrap-up

Unfortunately for us, by the end of the event it had started pouring rain. This presented us with a challenge: how could we safely transport our equipment in this weather? Luckily we only really needed to focus on keeping the wiring dry. Thankfully we had a tarp to do just that! Navigating the steep hill in the rain allowed some of our team members to live out their Formula 1 dreams, steering Lefty to safety! We’d like to thank IEEE and all of our other sponsors for their continued support and opportunities like these!
