On Sunday, November 24th we demoed at the Eden Prairie mall in an event called Bots for Tots! Bots for Tots is an event where Talon Robotics partners with the charity Toys for Tots and demos our robot around the Eden Prairie Mall while collecting gifts for kids in need. Afterward, we donate all the toys to Toys for Tots to help them with their mission. This event was a fantastic opportunity for us to connect with our community, as well as inspire kids who might be interested in joining robotics in the future. We used our 2023-2024 robot, Cronus, during this demo, launching rings for the kids to catch. We also gave out Talon merchandise which included stickers, our robot trading cards, and bracelets.

We interacted with a multitude of community members and got a ton of toy donations which we are very thankful for. We had 16 volunteers who drove the robot, set up and took down the equipment and talked to members of the community. The event started at 11 and ended at 5. We had the robot running for the majority of this time. We did have some small technical problems which led to us not running the whole time but we managed to overcome the issues and had a successful event.

As I stated, this event was a massive success, we collected and donated a whole box at the Toys for Tots store, interacted with the community, and inspired many. Another success of the event is being able to show the engineering process, STEM, and talk about the other programs FLL and FTC. We hope to do this again next year and hope you will all continue to support us along the way.
